Expertise guaranteed – treatment with donor sperm

When identifying the reasons for infertility, it may be the case that the spouse or partner’s sperm count is so low that there is either no sperm in the ejaculate at all (azoospermia) or the sperm quality is so low that several attempts at in-vitro fertilisation using the ICSI method have already been unsuccessful.

An initial treatment for the man may help here, where our andrology/urology cooperation partner can surgically extract a small amount of testicular tissue via TESE or micro TESE (testicular sperm extraction).

Unfortunately, even after this operation, men may still receive the information that the surgical extraction of sperm-forming tissue has not resulted in any sperm being found that could be used for the purposes of fertilising a woman’s egg cells.

In such specific situations, following an in-depth consultation, we may also offer to carry out a fertility treatment using donor sperm (heterologous or donor insemination). This may occur as heterologous insemination or, in the presence of a gynaecological disease affecting fertility, as in-vitro fertilisation (IVF-ET).

Within this highly sensitive field, we work exclusively with our cooperation partner, the Erlangen sperm bank, Nägelsbachstrasse 12, 91052 Erlangen, Germany. In compliance with legal requirements in Germany, only non-anonymous donor sperm is used.

Since 1 April 2020, we have also been part of the the Arbeitskreis donogene Insemination e.V. task force, which implements the highest ethical and scientific standards to consider specific issues and requirements pertaining to sperm donations in Germany.

We would be happy to provide you with a consultation on this matter.
